A deputy responding to a domestic violence call fatally shot a woman said to be armed with a kitchen knife in Lancaster Monday. Authorities were sent to the 2100 block of East Avenue J-8 regarding the disturbance around 6 p.m.Arriving deputies witnessed an altercation between a man and a woman, who was armed with a large kitchen knife, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department stated in a news release. The woman was heard making verbal threats that she was going to use the knife to harm the man, according to the news release."When the female approached the male with the knife, a deputy-involved shooting occurred," the sheriff's department stated.Investigators determined only one deputy was involved in the shooting and a knife was recovered at the scene. A Thousand Oaks woman has succumbed to her wounds after nearly two weeks in the hospital, and her alleged attacker — her son — will now face a murder charge, as the Ventura County Sheriff's Office is investigating the attack as a homicide.Scott Goldberg, 21, allegedly assaulted a man and a woman in their 60s with a hammer on Nov. 19. A new year-round indoor farmers market is coming to Morgan Hill — the first of its kind in Santa Clara County.The Fattoria Public Market, which is planned to open in 2026, will be the first of its kind in the county and provide a hub for agriculture, food, beverage, and education while offering economic opportunity to small farmers throughout the region.The proposed project will be housed on more than 25 acres of agricultural land just south of Morgan Hill off Highway 101, and will feature a 40,000 sq.-ft indoor facility that will allow farmers to sell directly to consumers year-round, seven days a week.It will also include a beer and wine garden where local wineries and breweries can sell their wares, as well as a distribution and processing facility that will enable smaller farmers to band together to sell their produce to large-scale buyers.
